Davao City wins overall crown, GenSan second in Batang Pinoy Mindanao leg

DAVAO CITY won the overall crown of the Batang Pinoy Mindanao Leg with 54 gold medals in Oroquieta City in Misamis Occidental.

Davao City also had 29 silver and 25 bronze medals as of Monday afternoon.

General Santos City placed second with a 50-52-56 haul, while Davao Del Norte finished third with 39-28-40. Zamboanga City (38-12-26) and Tagum City (28-29-23) completed the top five.

Victories in tennis by Jude Abelo in the boys singles and Jessie Mae Carcueva in the girls singles, boxing by Reymond Alpubera, and in beach volleyball in the boys division highlighted the final day of action for Davao City in the competition organized by the Philippine Sports Commission, Misamis Occidental provincial government and Oroquieta City government.

Among the top performers was John Ross de Sossa of Zamboanga City, who copped five gold medals in swimming.

In athletics, Albert Jose Villaces of Zamboanga City swept the 100m and 200m dash in the 15-under.
