RIVALS De La Salle and Ateneo are having big celebrations to fete their sports heroes.

For a change, it has nothing to do with basketball.

La Salle will be having a Thanksgiving Party on Saturday at its school grounds in celebration of the UAAP general championship it won during the collegiate league's 75th season.

Ateneo, meanwhile, will hold its traditional bonfire for the second time this academic year on March 15 to celebrate their three titles during the second semester.

The Green Archers won titles in taekwondo, table tennis, chess, and tennis — all in the women’s division — which led to the school's first general championship since joining the league in 1986.

The school’s UAAP campaign was capped by the Lady Spikers' sweep of the Ateneo Lady Eagles in the women's volleyball finals before a jampacked crowd at the Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday.

After capturing their fifth straight crown in men’s basketball, Ateneo will again host another bonfire event at its grade school parking lot to celebrate their men’s football, seniors baseball, and juniors baseball titles.

Ateneo captured the men’s football crown when it defeated University of the Philippines in the best-of-three series, while its seniors baseball team won it against National University.

The juniors baseball squad also captured the UAAP crown by defeating De La Salle-Zobel.
