TAGUM City, Davao - Joselyn Cayetano and Moira Frances Erediano added to their gold medal collection in the ongoing 2016 Batang Pinoy at the New Tagum City Hall on Tuesday.
Cayetano topped the girls 16-17 3000m at the Sports and Tourism Complex here, and the Grade 9 student from Concepcion, Iloilo didn't even need to wear a pair of shoes to capture her second gold medal with a clocking of 11:06.67 a day after ruling the 16-17 1500m event.
She beat Bohol's Rosemaria Espana (11:47.11) and Leyte's Marjorie Canaleja (12:18.64).
"I train hard every day and hope to get a scholarship out of my efforts," she said in Filipino.
Meanwhile, Erediano copped her third gold after winning the girls 11-12 duathlon with a time of 25 minutes and 10 seconds that bested fellow Cebuana Jeanna Mariel Canete (27:57) and Aliyah Dianne Gregorio (28:13) of General Santos City.
The 12-year-old Erediano, who ruled the criterium competition the other day, eyes more medals as she is set to lock horns in cycling's road race and individual trial.
The other gold medalists in duathlon were Laguna's Zedrick James Borja (11-12 boys), and Lauren Justin Plaza (13-15 girls), and Joshua Alexander Ramos (13-15 boys) of Baguio City.
Over at the Laureta National High School, Cebuano Dino Singson and Tagbilaran City's James Albert Ramos lorded over the boys 30kg and 36 kg weightlifting categories, respectively.
In the distaff side, Shydijean Tormis from Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur ruled the 28kg event. Citadel Callenero of Zamboanga emerged the best in the 36kg category, while Angono Rizal's Lovely Inan ruled the +36kg class.
