Bacolod City takes turn to host Batang Pinoy in 2026

PSC wants Batang Pinoy 2026 to coincide with Bacolod's annual Masskara Festival

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Bacolod City is the next host of Batang Pinoy.

This was revealed during Thursday’s closing ceremonies at the Acharon Sports Complex where the Batang Pinoy flag was turned over by General Santos City Mayor Lorelie Geronimo-Pacquiao to Jose Marty Go, secretary to Bacolod City mayor Greg Gastaya.

Organized by the Philippine Sports Commission, this year’s Batang Pinoy, which, drew the largest number of athletes by far at 18,927, came to a close on Thursday after six days of competition although there are a handful more events still ongoing on Friday.

“Tuluy-tuloy lang po ang Philippine Sports Commission sa pagtatag ng Batang Pinoy,” said PSC chairman Patrick Gregorio during the closing ceremony. “Kasama po natin dito ang collaboration with the Department of Education para sa Palarong Pambansa at ang DILG (Interior and Local Government) para sa pagtataguyod at suporta ng mga local government ni mayor, governor, congressman, at senador.”

Although there are still no final dates for next year’s competition, Gregorio hinted that the Bacolod Batang Pinoy might be held sometime during the Masskara Festival which is usually held every October.

“See you all in Bacolod in 2026. Magsusuot tayo ng maskara. Aattend tayo ng Masskara Festival. Mahal po kayo ng Philippine Sports Commission,” said Gregorio.

    Geronimo-Pacquiao thanked the parents of the athletes for entrusting their children to the city.
