WORLD champion Kimberly Anne Custodio was eliminated early in the 20th Asian Games jiu-jitsu competitions at the Aichi Perfectural Martial Arts Hall on Thursday.
The round-of-16 bout between Custodio and Balqees Abdulla of United Arab Emirates ended in a 0-0 tie, but the latter won by advantages.

Custodio is the reigning world champion in the -45kg division, but was competing in the heavier -48kg where she won gold in the Thailand Southeast Asian Games in 2025.
Custodio and Abdulla were fighting their first bout after both drawing a bye in the round-of-32.
Marc Alexander Lim also missed a medal in the men’s -69kg division after a 2-2 tie against Joo Seonghyeon, with the South Korean winning by advantages.
Lim won his first bout against Tuvdentarvaa Choijamts of Mongolia via advantages in the round-of-32, and beat Dang Dinh Tung of Vietnam, 2-0, in the round-of-16.
Lim was defeated by Nurzhan Batyrbekov of Kazakhstan, 4-2, in the quarterfinals, but earned a bronze medal bout via repechages after a win via advantages against Ramazan Tianguber of Kyrygztan.

The Filipinos will look to bounce back on Friday with Hangzhou Asiad gold medalist Annie Ramirez seeing action.
Ramirez, a world champion and Asian Games titlist in the 57kg class, will be competing in the 52kg division this time around.
