JAKARTA – Pauline Lopez won taekwondo’s third bronze in the 2018 Asian Games after reaching the semifinals in her weight class at the Jakarta Convention Center.
Lopez had an impressive run in the women’s -57kg weight class but settled for the bronze after bowing to Luo Zhongsi of China, 11-4, in the semifinals.
After a first-round bye, Lopez defeated Feng Xiao of Macau, 8-0, before routing Nepal’s Gyani Chunara, 20-0, in the quarterfinals to gain a sure bronze medal.
It was the Philippines’ third bronze after the men’s and women’s poomsae team also placed third in competitions held on Sunday.
