JAKARTA – The Philippines will look to contain Aprilia Santini Manganang as the women’s volleyball team clashes with host Indonesia in the 18th Asian Games at the GBK Tennis Indoor.
The match is at 7:30 p.m. (8:30 p.m. Manila time).
The Nationals hop to improve their 1-2 record at the close of their preliminary campaign against the hosts.
Focus will be on Manganang, the team’s leading attacker.
“Siyempre, kailangan namin ma-stop ‘yung attacks niya.
Delos Santos said Manganang’s sister Amaysa is also among those they need to focus on.
“’Yung sister niya, pinapasok din ‘yun. Quality rin siya nung last game,” said delos Santos.
The last time the Philippines and Indonesia volleyball teams met in a multisport event was in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games. Skipper Aby Maraño was part of that squad and the match against Indonesia will be a perfect opportunity to see the Philippine volleyball’s development compared to its Southeast Asian rivals.
