JAKARTA – The Philippines dropped a 25-11, 22-25, 25-15, 19-25, 16-14 loss to Kazakhstan on Friday in a thrilling classification phase match in the 18th Asian Games women’s volleyball tournament at the GBK Tennis Indoor.
The Pinay spikers gallantly fought back from a set down twice and took command early in the fifth set, only to fade in a back-and-forth battle in the stretch for the right to play in the battle for fifth place.
Instead, the loss set up the Filipina spikers for a grudge match with Aprilia Santini Manganang and host Indonesia in the battle for seventh place scheduled on Saturday, 10 a.m. Jakarta time (11 a.m. Manila time) at the GOR Bulungan.
Indonesia beat the Philippines in the elimination phase.
