JAKARTA – The Philippines collected two bronzes on a quiet Monday for Filipino athletes in the 18th Asian Games here.

Cherry May Regalado captured the bronze in the women’s single in pencak silat, while Junna Tsukii overcame her Thailand opponent to also claim the same medal in the women’s 50kg division in karate.

The two bronzes though unable to prevent the Philippines from falling down the medal tally as the team is now in 18th place with a 3-0-12 gold-silver-bronze output following the two-gold haul of Yuka Saso and the women’s golf team on Sunday.

The day also saw the Philippine men’s basketball team bowing to Korea, 91-82, in the quarterfinals to end the squad’s chances of a podium finish. The Philippines faces Japan on Tuesday in the classification phase.
