With 272 Filipinos competing across 35 sports in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) with the support of Smart have bridged the gap of these valiant athletes to their loved ones back home.
The telecommunications giant has pledged to give each of these athletes their own roaming manager and sim cards for them to remain inspired and connected with their families and friends here in the Philippines.
"We are very thankful for the support of Smart. The athletes feel your support as we represent the Filipinos," said POC secretary-general Pato Gregorio.
Smart Sports chief Epok Quimpo also vowed: “We at Smart are guaranteeing full support to our national team in the 2018 Asian Games.”
This connection was enjoyed by the athletes starting from the opening ceremonies when they marched inside Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta on Saturday up to the games’ closing on September 2.
The Philippines is hoping to improve on its 1-gold, 3-silver, and 11-bronze haul four years ago in the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
