A TOTAL of P24 million will be received by Philippine medalists in the 20th Asian Games, which draws to a close on Sunday in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from the government, based from what they are entitled to be getting from the government, according to law.
Carlos Yulo and Jeus Yape will collect the highest cash incentives after the Philippines, pending an additional medal from equestrian on Sunday morning, wound up with four golds, nine silvers, and 16 bronzes.
Republic Act 10699 states that Asian Games gold medalists will receive P2 million, silver P1 million, and bronze P400,000 from the government, specifically the Philippine Sports Commission.
For team events, the cash incentives will be split among themselves if there are four members or less, or will be 25 percent if there are five or more members.
In total, Philippine Asiad gold medalists will be receiving P8 million, silver medalists P9 million, and bronze medalists P7 million.
Yulo gets P4 million for his gold medals in the floor exercise and vault in artistic gymnastics from the government, while Yape will receive P2.4 million for his gold in the mixed virtual taekwondo and bronze in men’s individual poomsae.
EJ Obiena will take home P2 million for his gold in the men’s pole vault.
Individual silver medalists Jean Claude Saclag in mixed martial arts, Carlo Paalam in boxing, and Juliana Mykhail Candelaria, Tachiana Mangin, and Kurt Barbosa in taekwondo will be given P1 million each.
Team silver medalist sepak takraw double squad of Abegail Sinogbuhan, Jean Marie Sucalit, and Nelly Jay Salon will be receiving P333,333 each, while Gilas Pilipinas Women 3x3 of Kacey Dela Rosa, Maria Victoria Pasilang, Amyah Espanol, and Kennan Ka will be getting P250,000 each
Individual bronze medalists Alex Eala in tennis, Eldrew Yulo in gymnastics, Albert Ian Delos Santos in weightlifting, John Cabang Tolentino and Victoria Bossong in athletics, Marie June Adriano in karate, Carlos Alvarez in MMA, Jayuard Alciso in surfing, and Kaila Napolis in jiu-jitsu will accept P400,000.
Team bronze medalists Sofia Shanine Pagara and Khylem Harl Progella will collect P200,000 each; and Samantha Veguillas, Ysabielle Arrogante, and Rebecca Cyril Torres in karate will take home P133,333.
Receiving P100,000 each for being team bronze medalist are Bien Zoleta, Princess Catindig, Hilary Paas, Shyryn Salazar,and Christy Sanosa in women’s soft tennis; Lance David, Lawrence Anthony Gatmaitan, Robert Jon Mempin, Ducke Harnold Leoncio, and Kim Rey Salazar in esports Pokemon Unite; Golden Hart Dajao, Charles Roman Esguerra, Jhon Mike Tungol, Justine Ritchie Tan, Dragon Hart Dajao, and Chammy Paul Nazarrea in esports Honor of Kings; and Jason Huerte, Jom Lerry Rafael, Reynaldo Asilum, Glindel Phori, and Ronsited Gabayeron in sepak takraw men’s regu.
