THE Philippines added another bronze medal in Day 4 of the 20th Asian Games on Wednesday but the elusive gold medal in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan looks to be coming sooner rather than later.
Marie June Adriano gave karate’s second and final bronze medal when she dominated Ya-chi Chung of Chinese Taipei, 10-3, in the bronze medal match of the women’s kumite -50kg.

The Philippines sits at 24th place in the medal tally with one silver and four bronzes.
But attention on Thursday will be at the Nagoya General Gymnasium Rainbow Hall with Carlos Yulo set to battle for gold in the floor exercise to start the apparatus finals in the men’s artistic gymnastics.
Yulo had an impressive showing in the floor exercise of the men’s team all-around, which was essentially a warm-up as well for the apparatus final on Thursday.

The two-time Olympic champion scored 14.266 in the floor exercise during the Philippines’ sixth-place finish in the men’s team all-around.
The excellent showing comes a day before the final of the same apparatus where he is heavily favored and will be seeking his first-ever Asiad gold.
The Gilas Men and Women 3x3 basketball also provided optimism after sweeping the group stage and clinching an outright berth for Thursday’s quarterfinals.
The men’s team defeated Kazakhstan, 21-15, to sweep Group A and clinch an outright quarterfinal berth.
The women’s squad also completed a three-match sweep of Group C with a 17-12 victory over Malaysia.
Other results saw Rosegie Ramos placing fourth in the women’s 53kg category during the first day of weightlifting competitions.
Joanie Delgaco clinched a finals berth in the women’s singles sculls of rowing after recording the sixth best time in the heats.
Delgaco’s fellow Paris Olympian Samantha Catantan suffered a heartbreaker, missing a bronze after losing to Jihee Park of Korea, 15-10, in the quarterfinals despite holding a 7-1 lead early in the match
