JUNMILARDO Ogayre withstood a knockdown in the final round to edge out Lundaa Gantumuri of Mongolia in the men’s 60kg preliminaries of the 20th Asian Games boxing competitions.
Ogayre, 27, eked out a 3-2 split decision on Wednesday at the Nishio City General gymnasium despite receiving a standing eight-count in the third round against the aggressive Mongolian.

But the Filipino already build enough cushion in the first two rounds to get the nod of the three judges by scores of 29-28.
Next up for Ogayre in the Round of 16 is Nepal's Khagendra Roka Magar, who fashioned out a 5-0 win over Alvin John Reyes Salinas of Macau.
The victory of Ogayre put the Philippine boxing team back on track following the shocking ouster of Olympic medalist Aira Villegas in the first round of the women’s 51kg class on Tuesday.
Villegas lost to Sakshi Chaudhary of India, 5-0.
Ogayre now joins Norlan Petecio (70kg) in the next round.
Still to climb the ring are Olympic medal winners Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam, as well as Rissa Pasuit.
