JAKARTA – Eumir Marcial bowed to Israil Madrimov of Uzbekistan, 3-2, in the semifinals of the men’s middleweight class in the 18th Asian Games boxing competitions at the Jakarta International Expo.
Marcial unleashed a clubbing left hook that forced the referee to issue a standing eight count on Madrimov, but it wasn't enough as three judges scored it 28-27 for the Uzbek against the two who scored it 28-27 for the Filipino.
With the defeat, Marcial will take home a bronze medal like light flyweight Carlo Paalam, who also lost in his semifinal match to Amit of India.
