LOYOLA Meralco shifts its buildup for the United Football League Cup into higher gear when it flies to Indonesia next week for the Piala Menpora Cup.
Currently vying in the UFL preseason tournament, the Sparks are expected to parade key acquisitions Joaco Cañas and Lee Joo Young from defending champion Stallion and Boyet Cañedo from Pachanga-Diliman in the week-long competition.
Bannered by James and Phil Younghusband, the Sparks are vying in their second international tournament after barely missing the Singapore Cup semifinals two months ago.
They are bracketed in Group B and will take on Arema Malang on September 21, Mitra Kukar two days later, before ending the group stage campaign against Persepam Madura on September 25.
Group A consists of Persib Bandung, Sriwijaya FC, Central Coast Mariners, and the Malaysian Under-23 squad.
Only the top team in each group advances to the finale set on September 26.
