JEUS Gabriel Derick Yape bagged a bronze medal in men’s individual poomsae of the 20th Asian Games at Toyohashi Gymnasium on Thursday.
The 22-year-old Yape hit an average score of 9.0900 following scores of 9.1000 and 9.080 on his two routines during his Asiad debut.
South Korea, as expected, completed a sweep of the individual events with Yun Kyusung snaring the gold with a 9.3800 average score after tallying 9.340 and 9.420 in his two poomsae performances.
Navin Pinthashute of Thailand bagged the silver with scores of 9.300 and 9.260 for a 9.2800 average.
Earlier in the day, Yape qualified in the final with an average score of 8.8300, third-best in the semifinals.

Yape joins Juliana Mykhail Candelaria in the podium in Day 1 of taekwondo competitions with Candelaria capturing the silver in the women’s event.
Yape’s quest for medals isn’t over yet, as he is scheduled to show his wares in the virtual taekwondo competition on Friday.
