THE INCHEON Asian Games Organizing Committee (IAGOC) donated $10,000 as relief funds for victims of super typhoon ‘Yolanda.’
Philippine Sports Commission chairman Ritchie Garcia received the donation from IAGOC Kim Young-soo during the recent meeting amongst Chef De Mission of participating countries to the Asiad.
Garcia is the country’s Chef De Mission to next year’s staging of the Asiad.
The PSC chairman in turn, handed the donation to the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).
“I will turn over the money to the POC because this is really intended for the POC to dispose off para matulong sa mga kapatid natin sa mga areas na affected ng typhoon,” said Garcia.
“Nagpapasalamat kami sa organizing committee. Hindi naman ito napakalaking halaga pero ang mahalaga ‘yung gesture na tumulong sila,” he added.
Meanwhile, Garcia was impressed with the preparations of Incheon in hosting next year’s Asian Games to be held September 19 to October 4.
“They are on schedule. Talagang may pera sila and everything is well-planned. They have a stadium worth $468 million. Korea is very serious about it,” the PSC chairman said.
