Global FC ends rare league slump with 10-goal romp against Manila Jeepney

    Apr 11, 2015

GLOBAL FC flashed its fiery form to outclass Manila Jeepney, 10-1, on Saturday night and put an end to a rare slump in the United Football League at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Mark Hartmann registered a hat-trick, Hikaru Minegishi and Misagh Bahadoran chipped in a brace, while Yu Hoshide, Renato Gonzalez, and Izzo El-Habib had a goal each as the defending UFL champions snapped a two-match skid.

Global notched a fifth victory in eight outings to hike its points total to 16 and supplant Stallion FC from fourth spot, while dealing Jeepney a sixth defeat in eight matches to remain with two points.

Hartmann opened the floodgates just four minutes into the match when he converted a Bahadoran feed.

After Hikaru Minegishi headed home Satoshi Otomo’s cross in the 23rd minute, Hartmann scored two goals ( 39’, 43’), which sandwiched Arnel Amita’s 40th-minute strike for Jeepney, to complete his three-goal effort in the first half.

Bahadoran took over after intermission as he turned from facilitator to scorer with two goals in a span of two minutes starting four minutes into the second half.

Minegishi, a Japanese defender, completed his own brace with a conversion seven minutes before stoppage time that punctuated Global’s rout.

It was virtual warm-up for their AFC Cup match against Yadanarbon of Myanmar on Wednesday at the Philippine Stadium.

Socceroo finally barged into the win column with a 4-0 shutout of cellar-dwelling Philippine Army earlier.

The former Division 2 champions drew a brace from Beleu Cleopas to clinch their first victory in seven matches and move up to eighth spot with four points as they kept the Troopers winless with only a point to show after eight starts.
