GILAS Pilipinas Women bowed out of the 2026 Asian Games 5-on-5 basketball after losing to Chinese Taipei, 83-71, in the quarterfinals on Thursday at the Aichi International Arena.
The Nationals missed the chance of making the semifinals in the Asiad for the very first time after failing to overcome an impressive showing by the Taiwanese.

Gilas Women failed to sustain its strong start where it led 9-2, allowing Chinese Taipei to score the last 13 points of the first quarter.
The Philippines never led afterwards and played catch-up since.
The Nationals failed to put the clamps on Chinese Taipei center Yu Wen Hsiao, who dominated the paint to score 14 points and haul down 17 rebounds to help her team build leads as high as 16 points.
Afril Bernardino had 23 points and seven rebounds for Gilas Women, with Stefani Berberabe contributing 12 points and four assists.
