The 27-year-old Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist scored a 5-0 win over Dalai Gadzorig to advance to the round-of-16 of the men’s 80 kg class.

Marcial is fighting as a light-heavyweight for the first time.
His victory made it 2-for-2 for the men’s side as Mark Ashley Fajardo earlier took care of business in the 63.5 kg class by knocking out Dorji Wangdi of Bhutan in the first round.
So far so good, the Filipino boxer is adjusting quite well with his new weight class.
“Ok naman yung galaw ko, pero yung fighting weight ko talaga middleweight. Mas komportable talaga ako,” said Marcial.
“Hindi pa natin alam yung mga susunod na laban natin, pabigat na ng pabigat yung mga kalaban.”
Following the win which he fashioned out before a huge crowd that included Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Bambol Tolentino, PBA Board chairman Ricky Vargas, San Miguel Corporation (SMC) sports director and Gilas team manager Alfrancis Chua, and PBA commissioner Willie Marcial, the Filipino Olympian advances to the Round-of-16.
That means four more wins for Marcial to win a first ever Asiad gold and another berth in the Olympics to be held in Paris next year.
