ELDREW Yulo was impressive in his Asian Games debut, ranking seventh in the men’s individual all-around, and booking final spots in the floor exercise, horizontal bar, and team event to stretch his bid for a medal in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
The younger brother of two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos showed his versatility as he totalled 77.264 total points in the six apparatuses after Subdivision 1 on Monday morning.
He ended Subdivision 1 in first place but his score was eventually surpassed by Olympic champions Zhang Boheng of China (85.065), Oka Shinnosuke of Japan (83.865) and Daiki Hashimoto of Japan (83.865), all of whom finished in the top 3 of the men’s individual all-around.

Yulo was also overtaken by Sun Wei of China, Shoma Tsukiyama of Japan, Kim Jaeho of Korea, and Lee Junghyo of Korea, all of which were older than him by at least four years old.
Eldrew even had a better score than his brother Carlos in the all-around after ending up at No. 9.
The 18-year-old Yulo ranked fourth among the eight gymnasts in the floor exercise to reach the apparatus final where he will be up against his brother, who finished first with a score of 14.600.
Eldrew placed ninth in the horizontal bar with a score of 13.433. China and Japan had three gymnasts in the top eight, but only two per country will advance, allowing Yulo to make it to the final.
The former Asian junior champion along with his brother Caloy, Justine Ace De Leon, Zach Nunez, and Miguel Besana will also compete in the team final after a sixth-place finish in the qualification.
