PRESIDENT Duterte wished Filipino athletes the very best as they compete in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta.
Most of the 272 athletes bound for Indonesia led by Rio Olympics silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz were present in the sendoff ceremony held at the Malacanang Palace on Monday, days before the formal start of the Asiad on August 18.
"It is my pleasure to stand before you, some of the most dedicated and passionate athletes of our country today," said Duterte.
Chef de mission Richard Gomez handed the official track suit of the Philippine team to Duterte during the rites.
