JAKARTA – Margielyn Didal has been handed the honor of carrying the Philippine flag during the closing ceremony of the 2018 Asian Games on Sunday.
Chef de mission Richard Gomez confirmed that Didal was chosen by the delegation to be the Philippines’ flag bearer in the closing rites to be held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium.
Basketball player Jordan Clarkson of the Cleveland Cavaliers carried the Philippine flag during the opening rites.
Didal joined the rest of the Philippine delegation in the Indonesian capital after winning the gold in the street event of skateboarding held at the Jakabaring Sports City in Palembang.
The 19-year-old Cebuana, who has competed in the Street League Skateboarding Open and in the X-Games, beat Japan’s Isa Kaya for the gold.
