ALBERT Ian Delos Santos recorded a new world juniors record to take home a bronze medal in his Asian Games debut in weightlifting men’s 70kg weight division at the Nagoya Trade and Industry Center.
The 20-year-old Delos Santos lifted 183 in his final attempt in the clean and jerk to break the world juniors record twice during the competition.

Delos Santos edged Adkhamjon Ergashev of Uzbekistan, who ended up with 176 after failing to lift 180 and 181 for a 318 total.
Entering the competition, Delos Santos held the world juniors record at 180 in the recent Asian Juniors Championships, but surpassed it in his second attempt with a 181.
Delos Santos, the youngest weightlifter in the competition, later reset the record once more with a 183 to give him enough cushion against Ergashev.
Ri Won Jo of North Korea took the gold with a new world record of 349 kilograms, after a 151 in the snatch and a 198 in the clean and jerk, also a new world mark.
Masanori Miyamoto of Japan claimed the silver medal with a new world record in the snatch with 152, but fell short after a 188 in the clean and jerk for a 342 total.
