TWO-TIME Olympic champion Carlos Yulo will be up against some of the world's top gymnasts in the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Yulo gets the first opportunity at his first Asiad medal on Monday when he competes in the men’s all-around at the Rainbow Hall of the Nagoya City General Gymnasium, where he will be challenged by Japanese superstars Oka Shinnosuke and Daiki Hashimoto, and China’s Zhang Boheng.

Shinnousuke and Hashimoto are the favorites in the men’s all-around, being Olympic champions in the event over the last two editions with Shinnousuke winning in Paris in 2024, and Hashimoto capturing the crown in Tokyo in 2021.
Zhang comes in as the defending champion of the Asian Games men’s all-around when he ruled the event in Hangzhou, China. He recently ruled during the recent Asian Championship last June.
Yulo will not only compete for a medal in the all-around but he also qualified for the finals of the floor exercise and vault where he is a strong contender to win the gold in both apparatuses, being the reigning Olympic champion.
Yulo will be challenged by another Japanese bet in Shoma Tsukiyama in the floor apparatus. The two had a 1-2 finish in the recent Asian Championship, with Yulo’s younger brother Eldrew capturing the bronze.
In the vault, Caloy's major test could come from Kim Jaeho of Korea and Mahdi Olfati of Iran, silver and bronze medalists in the recent Asian Championship.
