ALEX Enriquez settled for a silver medal in the 20th Asian Games women’s jiu-jitsu 63kg division after losing to Orapa Senatham of Thailand.

The gold medal bout between Enriquez and Senatham ended with a 0-0 deadlock but Senatham won due to advantages.

The result, however, remained an impressive performance for Enriquez, giving the Philippines its highest finish in jiu-jitsu in this Asian Games edition.

Enriquez, who captured gold in the Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China last April, actually dominated her opponents on her way to the silver, beating Dania Obaid of Palestine and Marian Zhuravleva of Kazakhstan via submission.

The Fil-American booked her place in the final with yet another submission win over Narankhishig Baasanjargal of Mongolia.

Andrea Lois Lao fell short in her bronze medal bid after losing to Baasanjargal.

Aside from Enriquez’s gold, the jiu-jitsu team also grabbed a bronze from Kaila Napolis in the women’s -52kg division.
