THE CHASE for golden double is still alive for Alex Eala.
The Filipina ace and Shaira Rivera demolished Hong Kong’s Ching Lai and Kallista Liu, 6-1, 6-3, on Tuesday night to advance to the second round of the Women’s Doubles event of the 20th Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

The first-time partners will next face third seeds Xinyu Jiang and Zhaoxuan Yang of China, who earned a first-round bye.
After dropping the opening game, Eala and Rivera quickly found their footing and chemistry, winning the next six games to take the first set.
The pair carried that momentum over into the second, building a 2-0 lead before the Hong Kong duo managed to level the set at 2-2. Eala and Rivera responded by four of the next five games to close out the match in just over an hour.
Eala, meanwhile, continues her women’s singles campaign, where she is the top seed, as she faces Joanna Garland in the quarterfinals.
