DARWIN, Australia – Ariel Lee Lampacan claimed a silver medal in the 2019 Arafura Games muay competitions at the Darwin Convention Centre.
The 21-year-old Lampacan lost to Sakchai Chamchit of Thailand, 30-27, in the final of the senior male elite A 54-kilograms.
Lampacan expressed disappointment over the result of the bout but vowed to bounce back when he competes in the World Championship this June in Bangkok.
“Kinapos lang at saka hindi ko nasunod ‘yung game plan namin. Na-pressure din ako,” said Lampacan.
“Bawi tayo next time sa June sa World Championship. Pagbubutihin ko pa ‘yung training at hahasain ko pa ‘yung galaw ko.”
Jenelyn Olsim wound up with a bronze, while Phillip Delarmino and Ryan Jakiri lost in their first bouts in the competition that also serves as a qualifier for the 2021 World Games.
