PALARO standouts Ann Katherine Quitoy and Jessel Lumapas and led the Philippines’ assault as the country notched three gold medals on Sunday in the 10th Asean School Games in Malaysia.
Quitoy set a new ASG record with a 49.18-meter throw in girls’ javelin, surpassing the old record of 46.04m by Pavithraa Davi Jayaindran of Malaysia in 2017.
Lumapas topped the 400m girls final, clocking 56.46 seconds, beating Rawiwan Pratike of Thailand (57.10) and Maulidah of Indonesia (57.54).
Lumapas was named Most Outstanding Athlete of this year’s Palarong Pambansa after winning four gold medals in Ilocos Sur.
Also winning gold on Sunday was Trixie Dela Torre, who ruled the girls’ long jump with a leap of 5.84 meters, nipping Mahira Hanis Binti Ishak of Malaysia for the gold by just .01m.
