CELEBRATING the LGBTQIA+ community, the first-ever RunRio Pride Run 2024 will take place on June 22 at SM by the Bay.
The event is a pioneering festival where queer people get to proudly show their true colors, while also embracing the active lifestyle.
More than that, it's a golden opportunity for everybody to be one with the community's fight for acceptance and equality.
One goal, one love
RunRio Pride Run 2024 will have three categories for runners: 3K, 5K, and 10K inclusive of a singlet, race bib, and finisher’s medal, with the first gun firing at 5:30 a.m.
Participants are also encouraged to dress up in fancy outfits as the best costumes will be awarded.
"We're proud allies and are happy to provide this platform in promoting inclusivity, raising awareness about LGBTQIA+, and fostering a sense of community and solidarity, as we all come together for one goal and one love," said RUNRIO Founder and CEO Rio de la Cruz, who expects 5,000 runners to participate in the event.
de la Cruz, also a coach for the University of the Philippines' fighting track and field team, found the perfect partner to make the trailblazing pride run possible. As a staunch advocate for inclusivity and safe spaces for all, SM Supermalls is proud to set up such stage for the LGBTQIA+ community, especially during pride month.
Meanwhile, DigiPlus Interactive Corp, one of the country's fastest growing digital entertainment firms, also joined the roster of backers through ArenaPlus, the country's largest sports betting brand, and BingoPlus Foundation, the entity's social development arm which will be donating HIV testing kits in partnership with LoveYourselfPH.
RUNRIO Pride Run 2024 also has Pantay Inc. and Metro Manila Pride Organization as event partners, and Gatorade, Le Minerale, IKEA, Wheyl Co., Salonpas, Rudy Project, Chlorelief, Lubie, BestShape, Mogu Mogu, Y.O.U., Bare N Bliss, and Dazzle Me as sponsors.
