PERLAS came from a set down to deny Alyssa Valdez-led Creamline, 23-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-21, in the two teams' debut in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.
Amy Ahomiro and skipper Dzi Gervacio led the Spikers with 17 and 13 points, respectively, as Perlas joined opening-day winners BaliPure and Power Smashers at the top of the standings.
Ahomiro got her offense going with 10 kills, two blocks and five service aces.
The PVL newcomers also got a boost from former University of the Philippines standouts Kathy Bersola and Nicole Tiamzon, who combined for 16 points.
"Yeah, as much as possible we want to have equal distribution of attack points, reception. Volleyball is a team sport so as much as possible, kung kaya, everyone will contribute," said Gervacio, who took a leave from law school just to play this season.
"Tapos kung may star player naman, like Kiwi (Ahomiro) would emerge as the No. 1 attacker, blocker or server, why not? Whatever goes in our favor, 'di ba?" she added.
Valdez, coming off a stint in Thailand's commercial league, came away with 25 points, but Creamline was weighed down by 46 points it gave away in terms of errors.
Pau Soriano added 10 for Creamline.
