AGATHA Wong and Thornton Quieney Sayan got the first two medals of Team Philippines in the 2023 World Combat Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Wong captured the silver in the women’s wushu taolu taijiquan and taijijian, while Sayan claimed the bronze in the men’s wushu taolu nanquan and nangun.

Wong, who was coming off a fifth place finish in the Asian Games, scored 9.743 in both the taijiquan and taijijian for a total of 19.486.
The five-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist finished second behind China’s Hu Shuting with a total score of 19.533.

Sayan copped the bronze with a score of 9.72 in the taijijian and 9.69 in taijiquan for a total of 19.41.
Liu Chang Min of Chinese Taipei took the gold with 19.499 followed by Huang Junhua of Macau with a score of 19.473.
