ABRAHAM ‘Bambol’ Tolentino was elected the new president of the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) during a special elections on Sunday at the Century Park Hotel, beating Philip Ella Juico, 24-20.

Tolentino will serve the unfinished term of Ricky Vargas, who resigned as POC president in June, until 2020.
Tolentino, who is also the representative in Congress of the seventh district of Cavite, is the president of Integrated Cycling Federation of the Philippines (PhilCycling). He served as chairman of the POC during the term of Vargas.
Steve Hontiveros, Juico's running mate, was elected chairman, defeating Tolentino ally Robert Aventajado of taekwondo, 26-18.

Clint Aranas of archery and Cynthia Carrion of gymnastics were elected to the board after accumulating 24 and 23 votes respectively, beating Monico Puentevella of weightlifting (21) and Lailani Velasco of aquatics (19).
Forty-four voted in the special elections, three of which were individuals in International Olympic Committee (IOC) representative to the Philippines Mikee Cojuangco, and athletes commission members Hidilyn Diaz and Henry Dagmil.
Forty-one national sports associations (NSAs) also voted after rugby abstained, while shooting did not have a representative.
