THE TM Sports Para sa Bayan program is determined to hold training camps for children in Sulu and Basilan this month even as government looks to extend Martial Law in Mindanao.

The program focuses on grassroots development for football, basketball and volleyball, and will conduct training for kids aged 10 to 12.

Organizers of the program have partnered with Dream Big Pilipinas Football Association, which focuses on underprivileged homeless youth.

"Yun ang gusto namin. We reach as far as Mindanao. Coming from Mindanao as well, I’d love to bring the program there," said Rofil Magto, Citizenship Head of Globe.

"This is also to promote peace and development. Yun yung gusto naming ma-add na value talaga e, na sports, panalo ang bata," he added.

The program has already visited Tacloban and Manila and is set to go to Vigan and San Carlos in Negros Occidental.

"That has been the goal of Sports Para sa Bayan, to instill values and give these kids a chance to win in life through the channel of sports," Magto said.

"We've been doing it the past years and hopefully this year we'll be bigger than ever."

Football has been the primary focus of the program, with the organizers selecting six girls and six boys to send to Astro Kem Bola football camp in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

The top performers will have a chance to join the FCB Escola camp in Spain, where kids will get to train in Barcelona's youth program.

The program has yet to set the incentives for top performers in basketball and volleyball but Magto assures that the plan will be grand for the two sports as well.

"Last year with basketball we participated witb NBA 3x. This year, it's a bit soon pa to talk about cause we're still working on partnerships. Same with volleyball. We're looking for a possible partner to implement the program."
