Chinese clouters advance, send Philippine Blu Girls packing

INCHEON, Korea — The Philippine Blu Girls missed a podium finish after losing to China, 0-3, at the start of the page system semifinals of the Asian Games on Wednesday at the Songdo LNG Baseball Stadium.

Wang Lan threw a three-hitter and struck nine batters as China advanced while ending the Blu Girls’ medal hopes.

China scored two runs in the second inning and never looked back.

Although they struggled to find a hit in the game, national coach Randy Dizer remained proud of what the Blu Girls accomplished after winning two games in the tournament against Thailand and Korea.

“I’m proud of what the girls accomplished in the Asian Games. Hindi na abbreviated ang pagkatalo natin. Sa Chinese-Taipei nga, dumikit pa tayo,” Dizer said, referring to their 5-4 loss to Chinese Taipei in the eliminations.

China also beat the Philippines, 8-2, in the ranking round.
