MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan – Barangay Ginebra star LA Tenorio served as guest of honor of the 4th Bulacan Collegiate Athletic Association (BCAA) during its opening on Monday at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center.

The veteran point guard was joined by City Mayor Christian D. Natividad and Jose Anthony Villanueva, head of the city sports department, during the short opening ceremony of the meet featuring 10 teams.

Tenorio encouraged the young student-athletes of the participating schools never to give up on their dreams and to always do their best.

“At the end of every game, it’s not how you win but how you played the game,” Tenorio said, generating wild applause from the crowd followed by chants of Ginebra! Ginebra!

Tenorio likewise lauded Mayor Natividad and the city of Malolos for providing a venue for promising athletes to hone their talent and skills.

“Suwerte ang mga taga Malolos at maging ang mga kabataang Bulakenyo dahil may Mayor Natividad kayo na  gumawa ng ganitong klaseng programa. Naniniwala ako na darating ang araw na maaring dito manggagaling sa Bulacan ang mga atleta natin na mag-uuwi ng mga medalya, kabilang na ang mailap na Olympic gold medal,” added Tenorio, a former Gilas Pilipinas stalwart.

For his part, Natividad thanked the presidents and officials of the different colleges and universities in Bulacan for their unwavering support in making BCAA one of the most competitive sporting events in the province.

The top city executive noted the BCAA has now fully transformed from a stand-alone basketball meet into an all-sport event that now includes volleyball, table tennis, badminton, and chess.

Natividad  said competing teams this year are Centro Escolar University (CEU), Bulacan Polytechnic College (BPC), Bulacan State University (BSU), STI Malolos & Balagtas, La Consolacion University Philippines, Meycauayan College, Jesus Is Lord Foundation, OLMA Balagtas, St. Joseph College of Bulacan, and Marian College.
