INCHEON, South Korea — Korean celebrities who are very popular among Filipinos provided the high points of the Asian Games opening ceremonies on Friday night.

The most popular performer, hands down, was Psy, who saved the best for last during the glitzy opening rites by singing his worldwide hit 'Gangnam Style' with a bevvy of dancers.

Aside from Psy, other Korean celebrities who made a name in soap operas that have become a hit in the Philippines - thanks to reruns in local television - graced the opening rites.

Lee Young Ae, the star of the hit Koreanovela 'Jewel in the Palace,' lit the cauldron at the Incheon Asiad Main Stadium. Lee, more known to Filipinos as Jang Geum, was accompanied by two children to highlight the ceremonies.

K-pop fans will also be familiar with EXO, who wowed the crowd with its hits 'Wolf' and 'Growl' in front of screaming ladies in the venue, and JYG who sang the official Asiad theme song 'Only One.'

On the other hand, actor Kim So Hyun also performed in the opening as he was seen on riding on a boat with a girl holding a loop.
