YOUNG Marlon Stockinger was given the Motorsports Lifetime Achievement Award in the 11th Golden Wheel Awards Night recently at SM Aura in Fort Bonifacio Global City.
Jose “Boy” Ochoa Jr. was honored posthumously with a Lifetime Achievement award for his contributions as race driver and race steward. Ochoa passed away in 2013 after a bout with cancer.
The 22-year-old Stockinger was recognized for his feats as national karting champion, Asian Karting champion, Golden Wheel awardee and his stint with the Formula 1 Junior Lotus Team.
Motocross legend Edward Butch Chase was the eighth to be elevated to the Hall-of-Fame, while Singaporeans Mohammad Nasri Naufal Bin Nasir and Gabriella Teo were awarded Golden Wheel trophies for their impressive feats as the overall Asian Karting champion and Asian Karting Junior champion, respectively, last season.
The main guest of the event was Singapore Motor Association deputy president Harold Netto, who has served as steward in Formula One, Asia-Pacific Rallye Championship, and Asian Karting Open Championships.
