    May 30, 2014

WITNESS impressive drifting skills when the 2014 Hyundai Lateral Drift Championship Series unfolds on Saturday at the C5 Mega Tent in Quezon City (right before Eastwood heading North bound).

Defending champion Gio Rodriguez, a Pilipinas Got Talent 4 finalist, is all set for his title defense against a slew of drivers who are planning to dethrone him, led by contenders Alex Perez and Audel Sison.

Mark Bernardo, the 2013 amateur champion, EJ Malibara and Luis Gono, the youngest driver in the series at 15, make the jump to the pros to also take a crack at the crown.

Now in its ninth year, the event promises more excitement with renowned Japanese drifters Kimhiro Obata and Hirmo Kijikuma, and former Lateral Drift competitor Jason Chaochuy once again judging the competition.

Setting the standards for the sport in the country, the competition, for the second straight year, will use the 2011 LD Championship rules, the same guidelines followed by the 2011 Formula D in the United States.

The event is free to the public and starts at 10 a.m. for amateurs’ practice, followed by the pro qualifying at 3 o’clock onward.

The event it will be held at night.
