FORMULA One icon Michael Schumacher was listed in critical condition after he underwent brain surgery as a result of a skiing accident in the French Alps on Sunday.
Doctors said the seven-time F1 champion was in a coma when he arrived at the Grenoble University Hospital Center.
Schumacher fell while skiing in Meribel on Sunday and hit his head on a rock, according to the resort. The retired racing driver was wearing a helmet and was conscious when rescuers first responded to the scene.
But the situation began to appear more serious when the resort said that orthopedic and trauma surgeon Gerard Saillant had traveled from Paris to the hospital in Grenoble to examine the German champion.
