TWO American former champions banner the maiden Ultimate Fighting Championship event in the Philippines.
Frankie Edgar and Urijah Faber lock horns in the main event of UFC: Fight Night Manila on May 16 at the Mall of Asia Arena, according a report in the UFC website.
A former UFC lightweight title belt holder, Edgar has moved down to featherweight where he battles a former World Extreme featherweight titlist in Faber in an expected explosive non-title bout.
The 33-year-old Edgar, sporting an 18-4-1 win-loss card, has won his last three fights in the featherweight division, while Faber, 35, has emerged victorious in six of his last seven fights.
The UFC also announced five more bouts in store for Filipino mixed martial arts fans in the undercard.
Pinoy up-and-comer Roldan Sangcha-an collides with Jon delos Reyes in the flyweight division; Former Pacific X-Treme Combat star Jon Tuck takes on Tae Hyun Bang in the lightweight class; Zhang Lipeng meets Kajan Johnson in another 155-pound battle, while Li Jingliang and Roger Zapata face off in a welterweight fight.
More bouts are expected to be announced in the next weeks.
