There’s a new Team Lakay fighter looking to make a dent in ONE Championship.
Rising strawweight star Estrada Dongga-as wants to be the next man up for the proud squad from the Cordilleras when he takes on Pham Van Nam in a three-round MMA bout at ONE Friday Fights 76 on August 23 inside Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Dongga-as will look to fill the strawweight gap in Team Lakay’s roster after they lost two of the best in the division -- ONE Strawweight MMA World Champion Joshua Pacio and the red-hot Lito Adiwang, both of whom left over the last 12 months in a highly publicized exodus.
But the squad has done a great job of rebuilding. Jhanlo Sangiao has emerged as the face of this new young team, and Carlo Bumina-ang recently made his ONE debut a few weeks back.
Also making a name for himself in the ONE Friday Fights circuit is Carlos Alvarez, who’s shown his impressive ways at Lumpinee Stadium.
Dongga-as will bring his skill set to the ONE ring and he intends to show the growth that Team Lakay have had over the past year.
The 29-year-old’s versatility will be highlighted in this match as he’s out to prove that Team Lakay fighters are more than just strikers.
Against Pham, though, he won’t have it easy.
While the Vietnamese are known for their striking, Pham comes in as one of the more rounded fighters from the region. He boasts a strong wrestling game and a solid submission bag.
Pham will also put his unbeaten 5-0 record on the line in this fight, so a win for Dongga-as would certainly put him in a solid position to kick off his dreams of joining ONE Championship one day.
Dongga-as will join yet another hot card inside Lumpinee Stadium, a card bannered by the flyweight Muay Thai clash between Puengluang Baanramba and Samingdam Looksuan.
