TEAM Lakay fulfilled a promise by giving back to the people of Benguet.
With the country's summer hideaway still recovering from the damage brought by Typhoon Ompong, the Igorot warriors extended a helping hand to their compatriots.
Former ONE Lightweight Champion Eduard Folayang, ONE Interim Bantamweight Champion Kevin Belingon, ONE Flyweight Champion Geje Eustaquio, and newly-minted ONE Strawweight Champion Joshua Pacio led the relief efforts on Wednesday.
"In everyone’s life, there will be always ups and downs. There will always be challenges, there will be always storms of problems, just like this place," wrote Pacio.
"But it’s always about helping each other and lending hand for one another. It's about teaching how to smile again, how to rise up again and become stronger, because at the end of every storm, the sun will rise up again."
Typhoon Ompong pummeled the northern part of the country, leaving the Benguet region in shreds last month.
Coach Mark Sangiao, flyweight contender Danny Kingad, and the rest of Team Lakay also joined in the relief efforts.
