FILIPINO mixed martial arts fans now have something else to look forward to other than the all-out action when ONE Fighting Championship returns to the country next month.
Aside from Honorio Banario and Eduard Folayang — the Filipino fighters who will headline the ONE FC: Rise to Power card on May 31 at the Mall of Asia Arena, Filipino MMA junkies can watch out for another compatriot who has the beauty and charm to steal the spotlight.
Filipino-Swiss beauty Christine Hallauer is tipped to be a real show-stopper when she works as the round girl for the second Philippine staging of Asia’s largest MMA organization.
“I love it. I’m proud to be Filipino,” she said in a short chat with Spin.ph after the press launch of the event last Wednesday.
Currently based in Australia where she was born, Hallauer, who turns 25 in June, goes to Curtin University in Perth where she is studying business with a double major in human resources and industrial relations.
A part-time model, the 5-foot-3 Hallauer auditioned for the part earlier in the year and was handpicked by no less than ONE FC CEO Victor Cui. It will be her second appearance after the ONE FC: Kings and Champions just last week in Singapore.
Hallauer, whose mother, Cecilia, is from Davao, said she has been to the Philippines “quite often” in the past, but her most recent trip was her first visit to the country since November 2011.
She speaks four languages, including Tagalog, and stays in shape through dancing and gymnastics. She has also tried volleyball and running.
And the brunette bombshell, who counts Folayang among her favorite MMA fighters, is not ruling out trying her hand at MMA in the future.
But for now, she's happy to steal the show in between rounds.
