Can 'Alpha' Zingano give unbeaten UFC champ Ronda 'Rowdy' Rousey her toughest test yet?

    Feb 28, 2015
Ronda Rousey has been nothing short of spectacular in her MMA career, stopping majority of her opponents by way of armbar submission on her way to a perfect 10-0 record.

THE female bantamweight championship and the ‘undefeated’ tag will be put on the line on Saturday (Sunday, Manila time) when Ronda ‘Rowdy’ Rousey takes on dangerous challenger Cat ‘Alpha’ Zingano in UFC 184.

Rousey, the former Olympic judo bronze medalist who has been nothing short of spectacular in her MMA career, had stopped majority of her opponents by way of armbar submission on her way to a perfect 10-0 record.

But the 28-year-old American judoka is facing what could be her toughest test yet in Zingano, a known technical fighter with heavy hands and owner of a similarly impressive 9-0 mark.

So far, Miesha Tate was the only fighter to have lasted more than a round against Rousey during their rematch in 2013. But just like the rest before her, Tate also fell to the sheer power and tenacity of the California native.

Sara McMann was another opponent whose credentials came close to matching Rousey, considered as the consensus best pound-for-pound female MMA fighter in the world today.

Like Rousey, McMann was also an Olympic medal winner (silver) in wrestling, but proved no match against the part-time model and actress inside the octagon as the champion struck her with a knee in the midsection just a few seconds after the first minute of the match which forced the Irish-American challenger to surrender.

But Zingano is definitely no pushover, having scored five knockout and three submissions under her belt.
