RENE Catalan and Vaughn Donayre return to the ONE Championship cage as they fight separate opponents in the ONE: Quest For Power on January 14 at the Jakarta Convention Center.
Catalan faces hometown bet Adrian Matheis in his fourth bout in the promotion, while Donayre takes on Dutch-Indonesian fighter Vincent Latoel as part of the fight card that has Vitaly Bigdash defending his ONE middleweight world title against Marcin Prachnio.
Catalan, a former wushu gold medalist in the 2006 Asian Games, looks to get another win in the flyweight division after beating Zhang You Liang in ONE: Unbreakable Warriors last September, his first victory as an MMA fighter after four fights.
Donayre, meanwhile, is coming off a loss to Amir Khan in ONE: Defending Honor last November in Singapore in a lightweight fight when he tapped out from Khan’s rear-naked choke. It was the Dubai-based Filipino’s sixth loss in 14 fights.
In the main event, Bigdash (8-0) will make his first title defense after winning the belt last October 2015 with a technical knockout over Igor Svirid. He will face Prachnio, who has a 12-2 MMA record and on a seven-bout winning streak including five TKOs.
Prachnio is also unbeaten in ONE fights.
“2017 is shaping up to be a phenomenal year for ONE Championship. We have an exciting lineup of world-class events all across iconic cities in Asia, and we are thrilled to kick things off in Jakarta,” said ONE CEO Victor Cui.
