ONE Strawweight MMA World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio understands the significance of Denice “The Menace” Zamboanga’s upcoming match and has been one of her staunchest supporters leading up to the bout.
Zamboanga aims for history as she challenges Stamp Fairtex for the ONE Atomweight MMA World Title at ONE 167 on June 8 at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand. A victory would make Zamboanga the first Filipina to claim an MMA World Title.
While the Philippines boasts six male ONE World Champions, Pacio hopes Zamboanga secures her breakthrough, advocating for recognition of female MMA fighters in the country.
“This is every athlete’s dream. If she wins, it would be a monumental moment for our aspiring female athletes, inspiring them to train harder,” Pacio remarked.
A win for Zamboanga would send a powerful message to local MMA enthusiasts, challenging the notion that the sport is exclusively for men.
“This is a statement fight for Denice,” Pacio emphasized. “If men can do it, so can women, with hard work, faith, and discipline.”
Drawing from his own experience as an underdog, Pacio believes Zamboanga is poised to achieve a similar upset, driven by her unwavering determination to claim gold.
“I have full faith in Denice to bring home that belt. It’s her time,” Pacio affirmed. “Just give it your all. Have faith and trust in your training, and success will follow.”
