JHANLO Sangiao is pleased to see Team Lakay get another win, a big boost for the stable that saw a number of fighters move out recently, months after its big names went on an exodus.
Carlos Alvarez beat Sadegh Ghasemi in the second round via submission in One Friday Fights in Singapore, and the stable is now 3-1 in One Championship since the stars’ exodus.

Eduard Folayang, Kevin Belingon, Honorio Banario and Joshua Pacio left Team Lakay in March, while Lito Adiwang recently announced his decision to join HIIT Studio in Indonesia, confirming a longtime rumor that he has indeed parted ways with the Benguet-based team.
Jenelyn Olsim and Jerry Olsim days ago announced their departure from the squad to form the Olsim-Dasdas Martial Arts gym in their hometown of Bokod, Benguet, which is also affiliated with Folayang’s Lion Nation MMA.
Sangiao says there’s nothing to worry about.
“It never really affected us that much because a lot of new athletes have come in since then, and life goes on,” he said.
“There may be people that have gone, but now I have new sparring partners, really good ones, and you can already see one of those new guys in Carlos.”
Sangiao is also motivated to keep his own streak alive when he takes on Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu in One Fight Night 13 on Aug. 5.
“Since we’re a young team, we take a collaborative approach,” he said. “We help whoever has a fight coming up. We give each other advice. We share individual techniques with each other.”
