ONE lightweight champion Shinya Aoki puts his title on the line against No. 1 contender Koji Ando in ONE: Warrior’s Quest on 22 May at Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Shinya Aoki, who has one of the most diverse grappling arsenals in the sport, has finished 25 of his 37 victories via submissions. Aoki won the ONE Lightweight World Championship by submitting Kotetsu Boku, and continued his reign by forcing Kamal Shalorus to tap out.
Koji Ando is a Japanese Judo practitioner on a five-fight winning streak. Ando became the No. 1 contender by finishing both Rafael Nunes and Zorobabel in impressive fashion. With an array of diverse striking skills coupled with solid submission grappling credentials, Ando poses the toughest test to Aoki’s reign.
Also set is a match between Kuat Khamitov and Lowen Tynanes.
Lowen Tynanes is an undefeated mixed martial artist from Hawaii. Just 24 years of age, Tynanes scored wins over Vuyisile Colossa and Felipe Enomoto.
Kuat Khamitov is a Kazakhstani lightweight who has won his last six bouts. He is one of the most experienced mixed martial artists to emerge from Central Asia and has won 18 of 21 bouts and is looking to emulate the success of countryman Igor Svirid, the reigning ONE middleweight champion.
