MARTIN Nguyen once again extended his reign atop the mountain as he knocked out Koyomi Matsushima to retain his ONE Featherweight World Championship in the main event of ONE: Dawn of Heroes Friday at Mall of Asia Arena.
The Vietnamese-Australian titlist was lethal anew with his strikes, flooring his Japanese challenger before unleashing a barrage of strikes as referee Olivier Coste was forced to halt the bout at the 4:40 mark of the second round.
It was Nguyen's third successful title defense and improve to 13-3, further cementing his stanus as the king of the featherweight division.
"I don't want to be cocky but it wasnt one of my best performances," insisted Nguyen as he gave props to Matsushima for the gritty showing he had in the duel.
Matsushima fell to 11-4 in his career.
Rodtang Jitmuangnon also dethroned Jonathn Haggerty to claim the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Championship.

The Thai striker showed his pedigree against the British titlist, displaying his power as he was the undoubtful aggressor in all five rounds in the co-main event.
Rodtang hiked his record to 257-41, while dealing Haggerty only his second defeat in 17 matches.
